COVID In Color: A Documentary Series Exploring Recovery for Communities of Color Amid Pandemic

The Impact Network’s Covid in Color initiative aims to shine a light on the unique problems faced by communities of color and strive towards finding their solutions amid the Pandemic.

Detroit, MI, USA – As cliché as it sounds, there is no denial of the fact that COVID-19 has affected the world in multiple ways. Be it in the health, economic, social, or education sector, the world has witnessed many problems and is still trying to cope with them. However, when one talks about the communities of color, it is no wonder that their issues are unique and require their unique perspective to understand and analyze. Communities of Color, especially the Black community, have already witnessed centuries of systematic oppression, discrimination, and inequalities. The Pandemic has not only created but also exacerbated the underlying issues already penetrating these communities.

On the brighter side, there have been multiple initiatives to reduce such kinds of systematic injustice against the communities of color, many of which have turned into success stories. With that being said, Covid in Color, in collaboration with Impact Television Network, has developed an incredible initiative to unravel the unique problems faced by communities of color and help find solutions.

Covid in color is a documentary series that aims to understand the effects of the Coronavirus within communities of color from a grassroots level. These documentaries seek to highlight the immediate short-term and long-term impact beyond illness, including addiction, domestic abuse, economic stress, deteriorating mental health, and lack of support system. Shining light on these elements, which are widely ignored, helps make these topics a part of the public discussion. Moreover, help find practical solutions together as a community.  Covid in Color, in simple words, is a diary of this Pandemic.

The Covid in Color documentary series initiative has been developed in collaboration with Impact Television Network, the most significant African American-owned Independent Inspirational TV networks. This Network is currently broadcasted in 93 million homes, and with the air of Covid in Color, “Communities of color and black communities are left behind in so many ways and so many times.” Royal Jackson, the executive, producer, writer, and director of Covid in Color, aims to give a unique perspective to the world regarding the people of color, develop unique solutions, and bring forward an all-around healthier community.
